John Murry’s Southern Discomfort

Attention all you dark hearted, Southern gothic loving folks. Tupelo’s broken son, John Murry is your man.  When your second cousin is William Faulkner, it’s no surprise that you can write the hell out of a murder ballad or capture the beautiful nuances of loss and addiction.  The Graceless Age is an Americana triumph. Murry is an exquisite storyteller first and foremost along the lines of Lucinda Williams and Bob Dylan, who just so happens to have the allure of a bad ass, lone wolf.

John recently signed with the Windish Agency, the booking home to The Antlers, Best Coast, Dan Deacon, Girl Talk, METZ, Phosphorescent, Solange, TUnE-yArDs, and The War on Drugs. He’s going to be big shit sooner than later, so tell all of your friends and get some cred in the long run.

The Donkey is currently obsessed with the noir video for Southern Sky, directed by legendary cult filmmaker John Micheal McCarthy (Cigarette Girl, Superstarlet AD, The Sore Losers, Teenage Tupelo, Damselvis Daughter of Helvis) and filmed in various locations in Tupelo, MS and Memphis, TN.

Murry also has a handful of dates scheduled through September.  We’ll keep you posted if we hear of additions to the list.
